Great news: Banqup Group will support the UAE Federal Tax Authority in rolling out its new e-invoicing system. With our software, we ensure that invoices can be exchanged securely, in a standardised format, and almost instantly, and we are extremely proud of this achievement!

With this project, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) becomes the first country in the world to implement a decentralised Peppol model.

E-invoicing in practice: how Banqup and the UAE collaborate

The UAE government is gradually introducing mandatory e-invoicing for both B2B and B2G transactions. Starting 1 January 2027, the first phase becomes mandatory for large companies (with an annual revenue exceeding AED 50 million).

To ensure this process runs smoothly and securely, Banqup, together with partner Clever Science, is delivering the technology for the Peppol Corner 5 Access Point. This system operates on a 5-corner model: a secure network structure where the supplier, the buyer, their respective software providers, and the tax authority as the fifth 'corner' are directly connected. Our software acts as the central digital hub linking the tax authority's systems securely to the international Peppol network.

Thanks to our platform, invoices and tax data can be exchanged securely, in a standardised format, and almost in real time between suppliers, customers, service providers, and the government itself.

A global first

Why is this so special? The United Arab Emirates is becoming the very first country in the world to launch a fully decentralised control and exchange model based on the Peppol network.

By implementing e-invoicing on this scale, the government gains direct, near-real-time visibility into transactions. This helps reduce the VAT gap and combat fraud effectively. For businesses, it leads to faster processing times, less administrative burden, and streamlined operations.

The design and implementation phase started in late 2025 and was successfully completed in May 2026. Going forward, Banqup will provide managed services and technical support to ensure the platform remains secure and operates at peak performance.

“This project with the United Arab Emirates confirms our position as a global expert in government-grade e-invoicing solutions. We are immensely proud to support the UAE's digital transformation with our experience and software.”
